Chinese battery manufacturer EVE Energy will invest up to the equivalent of 1.2 billion US dollars in a new energy storage system battery plant in Malaysia. According to the company, the 484,000-square-meter project will be located in Kulim in the state of Kedah. Construction is expected to take a maximum of two-and-a-half years. Financing will come from the companyʼs own funds, capital increases, bank loans, and other financial instruments.
Long-lasting energy storage system batteries
The project is based on an existing EVE Energy plant in Malaysia, the construction of which began in August 2023, and production started in February 2025. The factory primarily produces 21700-type round cells for power tools and two-wheelers. The new project is intended to be an extension of this site and will focus on manufacturing energy storage system batteries which are safe, reliable, and have a long service life. The new project is still subject to regulatory approvals.
