China-based CNGR Advanced Material Co. is planning to build an integrated battery precursor plant in Indonesia. According to the company, the project will cost around ten billion US dollars and will be realized over a period of ten to 15 years. CNGR is currently looking for a suitable site for the plant.
Area of up to 5,000 hectares needed
The proposed project has been given national strategic project status by the Indonesian government, which could allow for preferential land acquisition and other government support. According to CNGR, the plant will require an area of approximately 3,000 to 5,000 hectares, and the investment will be made in three phases. The primary objective is to produce battery precursors, with potential partnerships for additional processing capacity also being considered.
