Volkswagen is systematically implementing its technology roadmap at its German battery competence centers in Salzgitter and Braunschweig. This makes Volkswagen one of the most important players in battery technology worldwide. With the creation, testing, and series production of battery cells and battery systems, Volkswagen is setting its own standards in the further development of the electrificationʼs key component and is poised to become one of the worldʼs leading manufacturers of electric mobility components. At its Center for Battery Systems in Braunschweig, Volkswagen develops high-voltage battery systems. Every year, more than 500,000 battery systems for fully electric vehicles such as those of the “ID.” family and systems for plug-in hybrids are mass-produced there.
