Der chinesische Batteriehersteller CATL hat einen „Condensed Matter“ (CM)-Akku vorgestellt, der dem Unternehmen zufolge künftig elektrische Flugzeuge für die zivile Luftfahrt antreiben könnte. Die Batterie soll eine Energiedichte von 500 Wattstunden pro Kilogramm aufweisen und dabei mehrere Innovationen im Bereich der Isolationsfolien sowie eine Hochenergie-Kathode und neue Anoden- und Separatormaterialien enthalten.
Massenproduktion für Elektrofahrzeuge
CATL arbeitet derzeit mit namentlich nicht genannten Partnern an der Entwicklung eines Elektro-Passagierflugzeugs und implementiere dabei die Standards der Luft- und Raumfahrtbranche. Die neue Technologie könnte sich indes auch auf die Industrie für elektrische Fahrzeuge auswirken: CATL plant eigenen Angaben zufolge, noch im Jahr 2023 mit der Massenproduktion des neuen Batterietyps für den Einsatz in Elektroautos zu beginnen.
CATL plant CO2-neutrale Wertschöpfungskette
Der Konzern habe sich außerdem hohe Ziele für den Umweltschutz gesetzt. Dazu wolle CATL bis zum Jahr 2025 sämtliche Batteriefabriken und bis 2035 die gesamte Wertschöpfungskette für Batterien CO2-neutral gestalten.
