Panasonic Energy und der US-amerikanische Elektrofahrzeugbauer Lucid haben eine Vereinbarung zur Lieferung von E-Mobil-Batterien geschlossen. Die entsprechenden Zellen sollen im „Lucid Air“ sowie im kommenden SUV-Modell „Gravity“ zum Einsatz kommen. Die Produktion der Batteriezellen erfolge sowohl in Japan als auch in der von Panasonic zuletzt angekündigten Zellfabrik in De Soto im US-Bundesstaat Kansas.

Unklare Zukunft mit LG

Bei dem Abkommen handelt es sich um eine mehrjährige Vereinbarung. Genauere Angaben zur Dauer oder zu etwaigen Liefermengen machen die Unternehmen in ihren jeweiligen offiziellen Mitteilungen nicht. Lucid plane derweil, die Produktion der gesamten „Lucid Air“-Palette im Jahr 2023 hochzufahren. 2024 sollen ergänzend die ersten Gravity-SUV vom Band laufen. Ob Lucid künftig ausschließlich Zellen von Panasonic verbauen will, ist indes unklar. Bislang bezieht das Unternehmen Batteriezellen von LG. Die entsprechende Kooperation ist bis 2023 befristet.
