Der britische Batteriehersteller AMTE Power hat den Standort seiner neuen Megafactory festgelegt. Zukünftig sollen im schottischen Dundee Batterien mit einer Gesamtkapazität von 500 Megawattstunden hergestellt werden.

Der Konzern geht davon aus, bereits ab Herbst 2025 Kunden mit Zellen von diesem Standort beliefern zu können.

Erfahrungen in der Batterieproduktion

Das neue Werk soll die Produktion von der bereits bestehenden Zellfabrik in Thurso ergänzen, die der Konzern seit mehr als 30 Jahren betreibt.

Im Zuge der zunehmenden Elektrisierung von Automobil- und Energiesektor möchte das Unternehmen seine Kapazitäten massiv zu erhöhen, und von dem steigenden Bedarf an Batterien zu profitieren.

AMTE nennt die qualifizierte Arbeiterschaft sowie vorhandene Infrastruktur für die Wahl des Standorts. Aufgrund von lokalen Quellen für erneuerbare Energie erleichtert sich die Gestaltung eines CO2-neutralen Betriebs.
