Die Unternehmen Iberdrola, CIE Automotive, Enagás, EIT InnoEnergy und CIC energiGUNE haben mit der Baskischen Regierung die Initiative „Basquevolt“ zur Erforschung und Produktion von Festkörperbatterien (All-Solid-State-Akkus) gestartet. Ziel des Verbunds sei es, bis 2027 ein jährliches Produktionsvolumen von zehn Gigawattstunden zu erreichen. Die erste Fertigungslinie soll mit Hilfe einer Investition von 700 Millionen Euro bereits in vier Jahren im „Álava Technology Park“ in der Nähe von Vitoria-Gasteiz im Norden Spaniens in Betrieb gehen.

Verbund-Elektrolyte von CIC energiGUNE

Die Technologie von Basquevolt basiert auf patentierten Verbund-Elektrolyten von CIC energiGUNE. Ein von Chemie-Professor Michel Armand geleitetes Forschungs-Team mit mehr als zehn Jahren Erfahrung im Bereich der All-Solid-State-Batterietechnik soll der neuen Initiative zur Seite stehen. Die Gründer von Basquevolt betrachten die Technologie der aktuell marktbeherrschenden Lithium-Ionen-Batterien mit Flüssig-Elektrolyten als nahezu ausgereift und kommen zu dem Schluss, dass der Schritt zur All-Solid-State-Batterie der einzig sinnvolle Weg sei, die Leistungscharakteristiken von Energiespeichern noch einmal wesentlich zu verbessern.
