Am Rande des Besuchs von Bundesministerin Anja Karliczek erhöhte Baden-Württembergs Ministerin für Wirtschaft, Arbeit und Wohnungsbau, Dr. Nicole Hoffmeister-Kraut, den Druck bezüglich der versprochenen Unterstützungen. Eine Anrechnung der bisher versprochenen Förderungen des Bundes auf die zukünftigen Förderungen sei nicht akzeptabel. Um eine Förderung ähnlich der der Forschungsfertigung Batteriezelle zu gewährleisten, seien weitere Investitionen in Ulm und Karlsruhe notwendig.

Nahezu gleichzeitig wurden neue Zahlen des Statistischen Landesamt veröffentlicht. Demnach wurden 5,6 % des Bruttoinlandsproduktes in Forschung und Entwicklung investiert. Im bundesweiten Vergleich nimmt Baden-Württemberg damit die Spitzenposition ein. Ein Großteil der Gelder wurde durch die örtliche Wirtschaft beigesteuert.
